NORTH KIAMA BYPASS
The 7.6km North Kiama Bypass on the Princes Highway near Dunmore is a $141 million project aimed at improving travel conditions by eliminating a winding section of the highway at Minnamurra, as well as removing traffic from specific residential streets in the area. John Holland Pty Ltd was engaged by Roads Traffic Authority as main contractor to construct the road and bridge works.
Tie back wall for Cut 3 involved contiguous pile wall with 900mm dia. piles socketted into very high strength latite and drilling was performed through basalt boulders. Noise barriers NB2 and NB6 were erected on 1000mm dia. pile foundations.
