Bored Piles

ICONICA is a luxury apartment complex consisting of two high-rise towers. The development features a 78-level tower and a 43-level tower, each with five basement levels. It is located at 152 Esplanade, Surfers Paradise, on the Gold Coast in Queensland. The contract for designing and constructing the deep pile foundations for the twin-towers was awarded to Avopiling QLD by Karimbla Construction Services (QLD) Pty Ltd, which is part of the Meriton Group.

Scope of Works

Avopiling QLD installed bored cast-in-place piles with diameters ranging from 1200 mm to 2100 mm, reaching an average depths ranging from 40m to 43m. The installation process utilised temporary casing and Bentonite drilling support fluid. The installation comprised 29 piles of Ø1200 mm, 4 piles of Ø1500 mm, 15 piles of Ø1800 mm, and 34 piles of Ø2100 mm. Among all the piles, 19 included steel columns, each 16.5 m long, for top-down construction purposes.
