Anchors are used to provide reliable load transfer and stabilisation where ground or structural support is required. Installed using specialist drilling techniques, anchors are commonly applied in constrained environments and challenging ground conditions where efficiency and precision are critical.

Application

Avopiling installs anchors using its Soilmec SM405 drilling rig, which is also utilised for large diameter bored piles. In extremely high-strength rock, the Down the Hole Hammer (DTHH) method is often used to create pre-bores prior to pile installation. This approach improves drilling efficiency through rock sockets and allows for the use of smaller rigs where platform space is limited or access is constrained.

Advantages

  • Small machinery footprint
  • Highly efficient drilling in hard rock using DTHH
  • Can be combined with large diameter piles to improve rock socket productivity
