Bored Piles
Bored piles are a high-capacity foundation solution widely used on major infrastructure, bridges, and tall structures. Their ability to achieve large diameters and penetrate hard strata makes them ideal where ground conditions demand strength, accuracy, and flexibility.
Application
Bored piles allow for the construction of large diameter foundations through a wide range of ground conditions, including very hard strata. Where unstable soils are encountered, temporary or segmental casing, permanent steel liners, bentonite slurry, or polymers may be used to maintain bore stability. This system is widely used for bridges, tall buildings, and major infrastructure, and is also suitable for retaining walls including secant, contiguous, and soldier pile walls. Pile construction is carried out progressively by drilling to depth, verifying excavated material, cleaning the pile base, placing reinforcement, and pouring concrete.
Advantages
- Low noise and vibration
- Very high load capacity
- Capable of penetrating strong bedrock
- Suitable for tension loads
- Cost-effective for large foundations
- Minimal site preparation
- Suitable for restricted access sites
