Continuous Flight Auger Piles

CFA piling, is a cast‑in‑place deep foundation system where a hollow‑stem continuous flight auger is drilled into the ground to the required depth in one continuous motion.

Application

Once the continuous flight auger reaches the required depth, concrete is pumped through the hollow stem using a concrete pump, as the auger is slowly withdrawn. A reinforcement cage is inserted into the fresh concrete afterwards. During the withdrawal of the auger debris on the flights are being cleaned. The CFA auger prevent the hole from collapsing during withdrawal. This creates a continuous, stable, reinforced concrete pile without the need for temporary casings or bentonite slurry. CFA piles are commonly used for foundations and embedded retaining walls such as contiguous and secant piled walls.

Advantages

  • Performs well in cohesive soils
