Drilled Displacement Piles
Drilled Displacement Piles are a ground improvement solution designed to strengthen weak soils and control settlement. By displacing soil laterally rather than removing it, DDPs improve bearing capacity while minimising spoil and surface disruption.
Application
Drilled Displacement Piles are installed using a specially designed tool mounted on a high-torque drilling rig. The system displaces soil laterally, improving ground conditions without significant spoil removal. DDPs are well suited to sites with high surface loads and strict settlement requirements, and are commonly used to support slabs-on-grade, isolated footings, and embankments. They perform particularly well in very soft soils such as organic clays, alluvial deposits, and waste materials. Pile dimensions and spacing are designed to optimise interaction between the columns and surrounding soil, with on-board monitoring systems ensuring high construction quality.
Advantages
- Improves soil strength and stiffness
- Minimal spoil generation, ideal for contaminated sites
- Reduced vibration and surface disturbance
