Bored PilesKundabung to Kempsey K2K Project is part of the on-going Roads and Maritme Services development of the Pacific Highway in the northern section of NSW. Roads and Maritime Services has engaged McConnell Dowell/OHL joint venture to design and build the 14 kilometer dual carriage lane and its four bridges.
Scope of Works
Avopiling was awarded to install bored piles on Twin Bridges over Pipers Creek - 24 piles 900mØ, Twin Bridges over Smith Creek - 30 piles 900mmØ, Kundabung Road Bridge - 8 piles 1050mmØ - 2 piles 1500 mmØ and Northbound Bridge over Stumpy Creek - 12 piles 900mmØ.
Pile depths ranged from 6.00 meters to 18.00 meters drilling through Class III to Class I sandstone to a strength of 160mpa. Segmemtal casings were utilised on this project. PDA test were conducted on 10 piles and all the results were above the specified requirement.
